PCN Clinical Counsellors

PCN Clinical Counsellors offer time-limited counselling therapy to patients who need support in managing mild to moderate mental health and/or substance use concerns.

How Can a PCN Clinical Counsellor Help Me?

PCN Clinical Counsellors will work with you to help address your less severe mental health challenges in the short term, while helping to build healthy coping skills, self-awareness and resilience.

Some of the things a PCN Clinical Counsellor can help you with:

  • Self-esteem

  • Sexual/gender identity
  • Finding meaning and happiness

 

What to Expect

You and your PCN Clinical Counsellor will work together, with your Primary Care Provider, to address your challenges and concerns in a confidential setting. If needed, they can refer you to other PCN Allied Health Supports.

Cost

There is no charge for the PCN Allied Health services. Patients who can access similar free support through Extended Health Benefits or other programs should utilize those options for care.

Care Delivery

Sessions are primarily virtual, but in-person appointments are available at two locations in Vancouver

Patient Eligibility

Speak with your Primary Care Provider in Vancouver to see if they have access to the PCN Interprofessional Team supports and if the services are a right fit for you.

  • Patient is attached to a Vancouver based Primary Care Provider (Family Physician or Nurse Practitioner) who has access to refer to PCN Allied Health Services
  • Patient’s Primary Care Provider feels care needs are appropriate for the program (short term and mild to moderate issues)
  • Patient is 19 years and older
  • Patient is not able to access this support through other program or means (such as extended health benefits)
